Geotechnical Engineering

Corsair has performed thousands of projects all throughout the State of Texas. We have performed numerous projects in excess of $3M and have the capacity to perform up to $15M of projects annually.

     

Our services cover all aspects of geotechnical design, including slope stability, retaining walls, bridge foundations, shallow and deep foundations, pavement subgrade evaluation, and ground improvement recommendations.

   

We also utilize a wide range of industry-standard software such as Bentley, GeoStudio, Rocscience Suite, Ensoft Group tools (LPile, Shaft, Group, etc.), and other proprietary and commercial platforms to deliver high-quality, analysis-driven solutions.

Pavement Engineering

Corsair performs a wide range of pavement structural designs and pavement evaluations, including both flexible and rigid pavement systems.Our flexible pavement design covers asphalt-based systems and involves analysis of layer thicknesses, subgrade conditions, traffic loading, and material performance. We apply mechanistic-empirical design methods and use tools such as FPS 21 to develop cost-effective and structurally reliable pavement sections tailored to each project's requirements. We have expertise in interpreting FWD and GPR data, and utilize these tools to support condition assessments, rehabilitation design, and structural capacity analysis.

Construction Engineering, Inspection, and Material Testing

Corsair provides full-service support during the construction phase through comprehensive engineering, inspection, and material testing services. Our team ensures that projects are built in accordance with design specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.

 

We offer construction observation, QA/QC inspections, and a full range of field and laboratory testing services for soils, aggregates, and concrete.  Our accredited laboratory is equipped to perform standard and specialized tests in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and TxDOT procedures.

Corsair’s inspectors and technicians are certified by ACI, NICET, and TxDOT, and are experienced in supporting public infrastructure, transportation, and commercial development projects.​​

We work closely with contractors and owners to identify and resolve issues in real-time, helping to keep construction on schedule and within budget.

Deep Foundation Engineering

Corsair provides comprehensive deep foundation engineering services, supporting both the design and construction phases of drilled shafts and driven piles.

 

Our team is experienced in conducting advanced field testing to evaluate axial capacity, integrity, and construction quality of deep foundations.  

We offer Pile Driving Analysis (PDA) for dynamic load testing, Pile Integrity Testing (PIT) for detecting defects or discontinuities, and Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) for evaluating cast-in-place concrete shaft construction. These methods allow us to ensure foundation performance and compliance with project specifications

Geotechnical Exploration

Corsair maintains a fleet of seven drilling rigs, including both truck-mounted and track-mounted units, allowing us to operate efficiently across a wide range of site conditions—from urban streets to soft or difficult terrain.

 

Many of our rigs are less than 10 years old, ensuring modern capabilities, reliability, and compliance with current safety and performance standards.

Our in-house drilling operations enable us to mobilize quickly, maintain schedule control, and ensure the highest level of quality in subsurface investigations.  All field work is performed under the supervision of experienced geotechnical engineers and supported by our in-house laboratory testing services.

Laboratory Testing

Corsair operates an AASHTO-accredited geotechnical laboratory equipped to perform a full range of soil and rock testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and TxDOT standards.

We maintain multiple automated triaxial and consolidation testing systems, allowing us to efficiently handle high volumes of advanced testing with consistency and accuracy.

Our laboratory is staffed by experienced technicians who hold TxDOT certifications, ensuring that all testing is performed to the highest standards of quality and reliability. Test results are closely integrated with our engineering analyses to support foundation design, slope stability, and pavement design.
